Hey peeps,
Welcome back to Christmas movie reviews! For day 2, I've picked the movie ‘The Family Switch’, starring Jennifer Garner, Emma Myers, Brady Noon and Ed Helms, available to stream on Netflix.
With Christmas miracles and magic in the background, the movie reflects on modern-day family dynamics where parents and children fail to understand one another. But it all comes together when the family members switch bodies with each other during a rare planetary alignment.
The movie is a good watch and I’d even say that the comic elements were on point in quite a few places. Ed Helms is a delight to watch onscreen and looks effortlessly comfortable in his role. The emotional and funny dialogues tie the story together and make up for the lost bits.
The story however is rather cliche and we could have enjoyed a little more humour from the naturally funny Jennifer Garner. And in places more than one, it seems like the actors are trying too hard to spark a chuckle from the audience which is disappointing!
Overall, the Family Switch is a decent watch and if you’re in for some family drama this Christmas, this could be your go-to movie. I’d rate it a 7/ 10. See you in the next review!
